The Corrected Whimsical Witch-Hat and Elfitude Patterns

Well this is embarrassing.

I have replaced the Whimsical Witch-Hat and Elfitude patterns with corrected versions.  The crochet hook I used for developing the patterns was a brand-new one with the wrong size indicated on the molded label and on the printed package.  To make these hats, please use US size L, or 8 mm.  If you have a Boye hook that says 'N', it might be incorrect like mine, and it will work fine.  The best bet is to measure your hook with a caliper to get the millimeters.  And always make a gauge swatch.

Ruffle Cuffs in Crochet

These ruffled wristwarmers are crocheted with sportweight yarn.  Fast and fun to make: no seaming or blocking.  An innovative ruffling technique is included, which produces uniform ruffles that keep their shape.  Wear them tucked in or tucked out, or put one on your jam jar to dress up a meal.

Allie's Blankie

This lacy, cabled baby blanket is knitted from soft, 100% cotton yarn for maximum comfort and cuddliness.  It machine-washes and dries nicely, despite the yarn's washing instructions.  This little afghan makes a great lap blanket, too.

Tarnation Oval Rug

This fast and easy crocheted rug is made from t-shirts that have been cut into tarn (T-shirt yARN) -- a great way to recycle old cotton-knit garments and get a good-looking, high-use item in exchange. Your rug can be as large or small as you wish. The number of shirts to use depends on the sizes of the shirts and how large you want to make it. Machine washable and dryable, it's an excellent rug for kitchen, bath, utility, or entry.

Elfitude

This fast, easy hat has a looped-over point and a puffy doughnut brim. Crank a few out in red and green, but don’t stop there--how about midnight blue or chartreuse or hot pink? This Christmas, show your true Elfitude!

Diagonal Lap-ghan

This square lap-blanket is crocheted on the diagonal, using a large hook with two strands of yarn held together. It’s fast and easy, and the big stitches give it a cozy thickness with a nice drape. It works well as an over-the-shoulders wrap, too.

Wizard Warmers

Striped and cuffed, this set of armwarmers, legwarmers, and a neckwarmer is a men's version of the knitted Witch Warmers pattern. The armwarmers have French cuffs and easy-to-make cuff links. The buttoned neckwarmer opens with a wingtip effect at the top, and the legwarmers feature front and back extensions for a spats-look. They're fast and fun to make: no seaming or blocking.

The Ultimate Recycled Market Bag

This bag has been pronounced, “the ultimate recycled market bag” by one of the managers at my local HEB supermarket, from which the plarn was obtained. Plarn is made from cut-up plastic bags, and this pattern uses those ubiquitous plastic grocery store bags. It is very strong and long-lasting. In fact, after years of use, mine are still performing admirably.

Witch Warmers in Crochet

Witchy-striped, ruffled armwarmers, legwarmers, and a neckwarmer are crocheted with sportweight yarn and fitted for a feminine look. This is a crochet re-design of my knit pattern, Witch Warmers. Fast and fun to make: no seaming or blocking. These warmers are great for Halloween, and they can be made in other holiday, piratey, or school colors… or to complement your everyday witch wear.

The legwarmers are kneesock-length and can be made in a short sock length. The armwarmers cover most of the forearm and can be made in a short wristwarmer length.

An innovative ruffling technique is included, which produces a uniform ruffle that keeps its shape. In addition, a smooth striping method is provided for sharp-edged, toothless stripes that are practically jogless.

Sneak Peek... Witch Warmers in Crochet

I've got a new pattern that's ready to be tested, and it will be offered for sale here and on Ravelry after the test. It is a set of witchy armwarmers, legwarmers, and a neckwarmer. This is a crochet re-design of my knitted Witch Warmers pattern.

If you'd like to be a tester, please let me know and I'll email you the pattern for free. When I've got enough testers, the freebies will no longer be available. It's a fun project, and it takes up to 800 yds / 730 meters of sportweight yarn for the full set. If you prefer, you can test just one of the items. I used Wool-Ease sportweight and Plymouth Encore DK in the pictures.

Witchy Tube Top

This witchy-striped tube top is easy to knit: no seaming, grafting, or blocking. It’s great for Halloween, and it can be made in other holiday, piratey, or school colors. The tube top was designed to go with my pattern, Witch Warmers, which includes striped armwarmers, legwarmers, and a neckwarmer.

I've just finished a new pattern for Halloween, which will be offered here and on Ravelry after it's been tested. It is a striped, ribbed tube top, designed to go with the Witch Warmers pattern (armwarmers, legwarmers, and a neckwarmer).

If you'd like to be a tester, please let me know and I'll email you the pattern for free. It's an easy project, and it takes about 400 yds / 370 meters of sportweight yarn. I used Wool-Ease sportweight, but I checked the gauge on Plymouth Encore DK, which is a fine substitute.

Fortune-Teller Turban in Crochet

This is a crocheted version of the knitted Fortune-Teller Turban pattern. It's easy to make and easy to wear--no sewing, grafting, or blocking. It is crocheted in a simple, unusual technique that makes it flexible and drapey. The design was inspired by paintings of fortune-tellers from the Middle Ages.

The Fortune-Teller Turban can easily be arranged to cover the hairline or cover the ears, as you wish. Make one in cotton for warm weather and another in wool for winter.

U.S. crochet terms

Materials: uses US I / 5.5 mm crochet hook; 1 moveable stitch marker (optional).

Yarn: 200-250 yds / 183-230 meters worsted weight cotton, wool, wool blend, or acrylic yarn. The pictures show Lily Sugar n' Cream cotton worsted weight yarn. Other American brands of cotton, Wool-Ease wool blend, and acrylic yarn work fine in worsted weight, as well.

Gauge: 16 st x 15 rows = 5"/13cm x 5"/13cm in cotton worsted weight yarn; 16 st x 13 rows = 4.5"/11.5cm x 4.5"/11.5cm in wool, blend, or acrylic worsted weight yarn

Materials: uses US 4/3.5 mm circular needles with 30” - 40” cable; larger size needles are recommended for neckwarmer bindoff; you’ll need 2 stitch markers.

Yarn: the pictures show Wool-Ease Sportweight, which has been discontinued. Plymouth Encore DK was swatched and tested with this pattern (see picture below), and it works fine.

Gauge: 20 st x 26 rows = 4" x 4" (flat swatch) in stockinette

Difficulty: medium
