Elfitude

This fast, easy hat has a looped-over point and a puffy doughnut brim. Crank a few out in red and green, but don’t stop there--how about midnight blue or chartreuse or hot pink? This Christmas, show your true Elfitude!

UPDATE:  To make this hat, please use US size L / 8 mm--or the hook that gives you the correct gauge.  I have replaced the downloadable file with a corrected version.

  1. Hi I am trying to decipher your pattern. I am assuming your hat is all crocheted in single crochet, but you do not list joining any of the rows. Are we to continue crocheting until we need to change colors? Moving a marker is to only show where the next row goes? Correct?

    1. Yes, it's all single-crochet (US). The hat is crocheted in the round--each round just proceeds to the next. There's no joining from one round to the next. Just move the marker and proceed with the instructions. The main portion of the hat is basically one big spiral. The marker helps count the rounds in each stripe so you know when to change colors, work decreases, etc.

    1. I'm so glad it will work for you! I should mention that I'm about to issue a correction to the crochet hook size. The pattern needs a US size L (8mm), instead of the size N listed. The hook I used to develop the pattern was mislabeled by Boye, the manufacturer. So be sure to check gauge before you proceed. <3

  3. I love your blog--and not being spammed with ads when I visit. Thank you for this pattern! I have nine grand kids, and some of them would love this!(After I make one for myself. And I'll use the N hook--I have a fat head. :~P )
