Detox Decadence

Okay, so I'm on this allergy detox diet, and for 4-6 weeks I have to avoid foods that I have allergies or sensitivity to. So that means most of the fruits I use in my non-dairy rice cream are out. It's pretty much bananas... because apples are weird for a frozen confection, and I don't have ripe pears right now. Imagination to the rescue! This isn't super nutritious, but it allows me to stay true to the diet.

1 Tbsp. honey or vegan sweetener
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup rice milk

Stir all ingredients together until honey or sweetener is dissolved. Freeze in your favorite ice cream maker.

1 lg. serving

  1. Sounds very yummy. How's the detox going? Are you feeling any better?

  2. You're so sweet to ask! I got over the "viral" feeling after about 5 days. Then I discovered that the flaxseed oil was giving me problems, so I cut that out. Got back to normal for a few days, and then we had a major complication: had to replace the shower.

What does that have to do with a detox diet, you ask? Well, I'm chemically sensitive, and the guys used this glue with killer fumes on three different days. Needless to say, I spent many hours in the garage with a fan and my knitting. The third day, I actually left the house for the day. The exposure I did have to the fumes gave me the "runs," and I'm just now getting back to normal again.

Gack. Sometime after the end of September, I will start re-introducing my trigger-foods, like kefir, tomatoes, etc. And we'll see if the diet worked again like last time.
