I love this book. It's chock-full of marvelous recipes from Greens, a well-known vegetarian restaurant located in San Francisco.
The New Laurel's Kitchen

This is my favorite general cookbook for vegetarians. It's like The Joy of Cooking for us leaf-eaters.
The New Moosewood Cookbook (Mollie Katzen's Classic Cooking)
by Mollie Katzen

This is a mainstay at our house. Some of the best vegetarian recipes you'll ever find.
The New Enchanted Broccoli Forest (Mollie Katzen's Classic Cooking)
by Mollie Katzen

Another classic by Mollie Katzen.

General Cookbooks

The Homemade Pantry: 101 Foods You Can Stop Buying and Start Making by Alana Chernila
My favorite new cookbook. This has so many great recipes like homemade ketchup, pop tarts, granola bars, yogurt, etc., and most are actually vegetarian.
The Fannie Farmer Cookbook: Anniversary by Marion Cunningham
My go-to general cookbook. It has all the basic and classic recipes, from cornbread to cobbler, and they are delicious.

Joy of Cooking by Irma S. Rombauer
The all-time classic general cookbook. It has all the basic and fancy recipes, with explanations of many, many cooking techniques and an indispensible substitutions table.

The Silver Palate Cookbook
by Sheila Lukins & Renee Russo

If you're looking for something special, this book is full of what you need. Excellent, delicious, creative recipes.
